REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, AUGUST 19, 2021

Tickets for the Virginia Scottish Games (required for all non-dancers) are available online at https://virginia-scottish-games.ticketleap.com/ or at the door.

 

Competition Rules:

  • Dancers MUST bring a valid 2022 RSOBHD Registration card. No paper or electronic copy of the card will be accepted. Pre-Premier cards will be collected at Registration.
  • Changing areas will be available.
  • All dancing events will be governed by the rules and regulations of the Royal Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing (RSOBHD).
  • All dancers must compete in their own category and age group based upon their age as of the first day of the event. Dancers will compete in reverse order of entry received.
  • Age groups will be determined according to the number of entries. Organizer reserves the right to combine, split, or delete classes the day of the competition 
  • Medal placing will be awarded in all events except those in which cash prizes are given. Trophies will be awarded based on all dances in an age group, except for primary. Cash prizes awarded to two oldest Premier groups and to three places in the Solo Choreography.
  • Dancers reporting late for their dance may not be allowed to dance
  • Judges may not adjudicate any competitor that they have instructed for a period of three months. If a competitor has entered a competition with a judge with whom they have attended a class or workshop within the last three months, the dancer must step down from the competition. 
  • Any complaint made by an individual against the organizer or adjudication of an event must be made in writing giving the complainant’s full name and address and lodged with the Organizer, if possible, on the day of the event and certainly not later than 48 hours after the event. Such complaint must be accompanied by a fee of $50. The deposit shall be returned should the complaint be upheld.
  • Dancer’s competitor numbers handed out on the field when dancers present their dance cards at registration. 
  • It is the responsibility of all attendees to review these guidelines before coming to the competition.

ScotDance USA COVID-19 Recommendations for Competitions: 

  • All attendees at this event must comply with state, local & venue health and safety laws, rules, and regulations for physical distancing and masking. We will be following the guidelines that the CDC and Virginia recommend. It is the responsibility of all attendees to review these guidelines before coming to the competition: https://www.virginia.gov/coronavirus/
  • If a person is feeling ill, he/she should not attend a SDUSA event.
  • The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend masking as a prevention strategy for persons age 2 and older who are not fully vaccinated. The CDC also continues to recommend physical distancing to reduce transmission risk.
  • Dancers may wear a mask while competing or remove the mask before dancing on stage in which case a bag should be used to place the mask at the back of the stage. If a dancer feels more comfortable wearing a mask in the marshalling area, they should bring their own bag.
  • Dancers and spectators should have a mask available if required by law or for any situation where they would feel more comfortable wearing a mask.




Competition organizers reserve the right to refuse any entry.
